Feminist society would dissatisfy many women

I am told that this article is not a parody, though nothing about the contents helps me to believe that this can possibly be true.

If feminism prevailed, the world would be drastically different and women wouldn't like the final result.

The day men and women have the same level of power is the also the day when chivalry dies. Many women enjoy visiting bars and having men buy them drinks in exchange for a casual conversation. It seems that after all the work women put into getting ready for a night out, they won't compromise their ability to get free alcohol for the sake of self-independence.

Other women appreciate a man paying for dinner or movie tickets. But in a world where men and women see each other as equals, a man might not open his wallet and show a level of gallantry toward an intriguing woman.

Many of life's common courtesies would disappear if men and women were the same. Women would have to protect themselves and a lot of women would find themselves walking home alone instead of being escorted home by a man. A man's reflex to open a door for a woman would be replaced with the thought of her being comfortable enough to open the door for herself.

If both sexes were equal, love would become awkward as well. Marriage, or even deciding who should propose or pay for the ring, would be a different experience. The days of a husband pulling out his wife's chair would be over because men wouldn't want to risk hearing a reminder about how women can do things for themselves.

..it goes on like this.

I for one know that I am unwilling to give up my free liquor in exchange for equal status. And we have a name for those who are: bulldykes.

Also, as I have many times screamed from my room while reading this, I am still wondering how he managed to post this article all the way from 1970.

What I want to know is where is my free liquor? Also whenever I have my handful of stuff where is this guy. He should be following me around opening doors. It should be his job that he does for free to proove that chivalry is not dead

I would have to walk home alone? And buy my own drinks? And hold my own doors?

And this is opposed to....... (?)

All this fuss just so I can sit in the driver's seat a couple of times and make equal salary. Why do we women bother.

Its funny, many Feminist Historians use WRitings on HOW WOMEN SHOULD ACT to base their opinons of history, rather than looking HOW WOMEN REALLY ACTED. They use articals from mens magazines, sermons and poltical speeches. They blindly assume that Women would go long because Father John said women should serve their husband, rather thank looking at their own writings and such. Socialist Historians also ignore women because their labour was not part of the socialist model (was not factory wage labour, and unpaid).

But human nature makes us LIKE being cared for. either if you're a man or women, for the most part, you want people to buy you things, hold open doors, and so on. HUmans are lazy, selfish and hedonistic for the most part...

Hrm, is that a hobbesian outlook or what?

When historians look at what men wrote about women it is often because women didn't write about women. or at all. because they didn't go to school.

See, that assumes that one has to attend school to learn how to read and write. And saying that women didn't attent school is a huge genearlization. Many women did attend some type of schooling as younger childern if it was available, and some women did left diaries and such that illustarted their average life. Many studies shown that African american women had greater freedom and importance in the communities than white women in similar situations. though they had less schooling than others. The evidence has been gathered though other means, using intreprations of audits and census materials. Also women in the 19th century often got together to read books and discuss poltical and social change. Linda Gordon has some good essays on this. Just because there isn't any direct writings left by women, or other often historicaly ignored peoples, dosn't mean they made any historical contributions. Ignoring women in history is ignoring at least 50% of the population.
